Can I use 220V chandelier in the US?

I wanna buy chandelier here in Kuwait to send to my mom in the US. The problem is, we use 220V in Kuwait and 110V in the US. The salesman told me that my mom can use the chandelier there as long as she buys the bulb in the US, and as long as there's no switch on the electrical equipment. Do you think the salesman is telling me the truth?
